LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man is under arrest after he used cash register receipts that had been tossed by shoppers to return merchandise he never purchased.
Louisville Metro Police say James William White, 37, of Ekron, KY, was seen picking up the discarded receipts in the parking lot of Walmart at 11901 Standiford Plaza Drive in the afternoon of November 5.
His arrest report said White entered the store, selected the items on the register receipt, then took the items and receipt to the service desk to get a cash refund.
When store security officers tried to stop White he fought with them, injuring both of the officers. When asked LMPD officers for his personal information, White originally gave them his father's name, date of birth and social security number.
White was arrested on charges of robbery, theft by deception and giving an officer a false name or address.
