A judge issued the ruling in Louisville November 7.

A state doctor testified that she examined Rev. James Schook and concluded that he can quote "rationally participate in his defense."

Schook, who is suffering from skin cancer that doctors have said is terminal, appeared in court but did not speak during the two-hour hearing.

The trial date was set for March 31, 2014.
