Authorities are investigating after a man who was just released from jail fatally shot his 16-year-old grandson, and then took his own life in Aiken County Saturday.
Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said 67-year-old Ronald W. Wilson was released from jail for criminal domestic violence within the past 72 hours when he went to his estranged wife's house and shot and killed his grandson Gerald Wilson.
The estranged wife and another woman were able to escape the Graniteville home and were not injured, Carlton said.
Carlton said the estranged wife stopped an off-duty police officer for help when she saw Ronald take his own life.
