Metro to open leaf drop off sites

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The sunny weather over the weekend was a good chance to get all those leaves raked up. If you live in Louisville Metro, you can drop them off for free starting tomorrow.

Three drop off locations will be open starting November 12 through December 7. The sites are located at:

  • Louisville Metro East District Public Works, 595 Hubbards Lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • 10500 Lower River Road (at the corner of Bethany Lane) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Louisville Metro Waste Reduction Center, 636 Meriwether Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sites will be closed Sundays and Mondays. Only loose leaves will be accepted. All containers and bags must be emptied and the bags disposed of offsite.

The leaves are turned into compost and used for mulching projects throughout Louisville.
