Questions loom about future of Dixie Dozen

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - All signs are pointing towards the closure of a once popular Louisville movie theatre.

Councilman Rick Blackwell (D-District 12) said they've been in contact with the group that owns the Dixie Manor Shopping Center. While they won't verify if the Dixie Dozen has closed, Blackwell said there have been discussions about what the future holds.

Blackwell said the closure of the 12 screen theatre will be a hit for the southwest Metro area, but it could also open up some new doors.

"In terms of entertainment, it's disappointing, then it also opens up some possibilities," said Blackwell. "There are a lot of things people are asking for out on Dixie, you know the restaurants, the retail."

Blackwell said at Tuesday night's meeting on the Dixie Highway corridor they talked about ways to make the area more attractive to investors and entice businesses to set up shop there.
