LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two people are facing charges for involvement in an organized crime ring as part of an ongoing investigation into a string of thefts from area home improvement stores.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Krystyna D. Eubank, 21, and William R. Robertson, 42, both of Louisville, on November 13.

Arrest reports say an officer received a call about Eubank being at the Home Depot on Hurstbourne Parkway and later found the two at a Marathon gas station nearby.

Robertson gave the officer an Indiana drivers license that appeared to have been altered. Robertson admitted to the officer that he had stolen merchandise in his car. Police found several items in the vehicle along with a Home Depot receipt.

According to LMPD, Eubank and others in the ring would steal items from a Home Depot and later return them saying the no longer have the receipt. The store would then issue a gift card for the value of the merchandise. Police said Eubank would sell the gift cards to Action Loan, 143 W. Market, or Easy Cash Cards, 1261 S. Preston for approximately 60percent of their value. Eubank's arrest report said some of the gift cards were also sold to an individual.

LMPD said more than $30,000 in retail merchandise gift cards are involved. Eubank is believed to have involvement with at least 105 gift cards, valued  at nearly $14,500.

Robertson was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of a forged instrument. Eubank was charged with engaging in organized crime, theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespassing and theft of identity.
