LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Jefferson County Public Schools and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will work together to move students up the ladder of success.

Tuesday at Westport Middle School Mayor Fischer and JCPS Superintendent Dr. Donna Hargens signed a joint commitment to improve education outcomes.

The agreement reinforces the goal to have 55,000 degrees by 2020 with a to make sure more children are ready for school, in addition to encouraging more students to graduate and further their education.

JCPS Superintendent Dr. Donna Hargens said, "Many educators refer to the responsibility of education as a 3-legged stool. There's the school, the family, and then there's the community. Our challenge is to make sure that every student has a stool that provides the support and stability for learning."
