Trio accused of breaking into LMPD impound lot, stealing from cars

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Three people including a juvenile were arrested Saturday after breaking into a Louisville Metro Police Department impound lot and stealing items from numerous vehicles, according to arrest reports.

Police said Lamar Becton-Kerr, 18, Larry S. Sharpe, 29, and a 17-year-old male admitted to the crimes. Becton-Kerr told officers the three of them stole car stereos, sound systems, cell phones, multimedia devices, loose change and multiple other items from at least 15 impounded vehicles on the lot. Police said the items totaled about $1,500.

In addition, the juvenile suspect told police that Sharpe gave him marijuana or smoked it with him five times over the last two weeks.

Police said all three suspect ran when officers arrived Becton-Kerr and the juvenile were captured quickly. Sharpe was found about two hours later.

Becton-Kerr and Sharpe are charged with theft by unlawful taking, fleeing and evading police, and criminal trespassing. Sharpe faces an additional charge of unlawful transaction with a minor.
