ATHENS, OH (FOX19) -
An earthquake was reported Wednesday afternoon near Ohio University in Athens County.
It happened around 1 p.m. centered in Nelsonville, which is located about nine miles north of the Athens.
The earthquake had a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter Scale. Considered minor, this magnitude is often felt by people but very rarely causes damage. According to USGS, shaking of indoor objects can be noticeable.
The USGS reports the quake was felt as far away as Dublin, Ohio, which is about 90 miles northwest.
