LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – East Broadway is home to a newly renovated Goodwill Center for Education and Employment. A fundraising program raised $1.4 million to pay for the center that's powered by JP Morgan Chase Foundation.

The center went from four to seven classrooms, has more space for job counseling, job testing, group meetings and interviews. Because of the space and new resources Goodwill says 33% more people will be served. Faith Mercke, chairperson of Goodwill Industries Kentucky, said the classrooms will help further education.

"Through group classes and one on one tutoring the learning center helps adults improve their reading and math skills, study for the GED and boost their employability," said Mercke.

Last year, Goodwill Industries placed nearly 3,000 people in jobs.
