LEXINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

Police are searching for several persons of interest in a fatal shooting at a Lexington strip club last week, and believe they may have an Ohio connection.

The shooting happened early Nov. 13 outside Divas Gentlemen's Club on Russell Cave Road. Curtis Simmons, 33, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the incident and died from his injuries.

According to police, witnesses reported the five men suspected of being involving in the shooting took off in a red, passenger car.

LEX18.com reports an on-duty patrol officer found a Dodge Avenger hours later not far from the gentlemen's club, backed into a handicap parking spot behind an apartment complex. Homicide detectives called it a crucial part of their investigation.

"From what we can gather, all of these individuals were in the establishment enjoying the services they have here, then there was some sort of verbal exchange that happened early. Around closing time that's when there was a 2nd confrontation and the victim was shot," Lexington Police Department told LEX18.

The search for the five suspects pictured in surveillance footage continues. Detectives believe they may have a connection to Ohio, but further details were not immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lexington Division of Police at (859) 258-3600.
