Officers searching for the suspect who fled on foot.
LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A report of items stolen from an
unlocked car led police on a chase down Interstate 64 Thursday.
According to Jeffersontown police, officers were called the Kroger
located at 9080 Taylorsville Road around 6:10 p.m. after a man said the theft happened
in the parking lot.
Police were able to get a good description of the suspect's
vehicle and an officer pulled the car over on the ramp off Hurstbourne Parkway
to I-64W. While the officer was working the stop the suspect pulled away, hitting
a car and prompting a chase down I-64.
Officers continued to chase the vehicle as the suspect went
onto I-65, crossed the Kennedy Bridge and took exit 0 in Indiana.
Investigators said the
suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot near 8th Street and
Locust Street in Jeffersonville.
Police said the suspect
was able to escape but they believe they know who the suspect is and are
working to a warrant to make an arrest.
The driver who was hit
by the suspect when they took off during the traffic stop was not injured.
It is unclear if the
stolen property was recovered.
