LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A homeless man has been charged with starting a fire that got out of control.

Around 6:10 p.m. on November 21, a Louisville Metro police officer spotted a fire on the Riverwalk at 10th Street. Police said Michael L. Culton, 48, started the fire to cook food and the control of the fire got away from him.

Culton was arrested on charges of setting a wanton endangerment, setting a fire on land he didn't own and use of an open campfire without precautions.

Louisville firefighters were called to extinguish the fire.
