LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville Metro police officer was among several people injured in an accident on Interstate 264.
According to MetroSafe, the accident was reported around 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at mile marker 4 near Bells Lane.
According to Louisville Metro police, one of their officers was in her cruiser when she stopped to assist a driver who was having problems with their vehicle. While the officer was assisting the driver, a third driver in a tan Toyota Scion hit the police cruiser.
The driver of the Toyota and a 7-year-old passenger were wearing their seatbelts, but the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the stalled vehicle was out of their vehicle and leaning into the cruiser to talk to the officer when the accident happened.
The officer, the driver of the stalled vehicle and the driver and child inside of the Toyota were taken to area hospitals to be treated.
According to MetroSafe, all of the injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
I-264 westbound was closed to traffic while the LMPD Traffic Unit investigated accident. The road reopened around 1:40 p.m.
No charges are expected to be filed in the accident.
