LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Shepherdsville man pinned an elderly victim against a car and stole his wallet outside a Louisville restaurant on October 29, according to police.

Police say Richard Smith, 43, confronted a man using a walker and his wife, both of them 80 years old, and asked for money on the parking lot of Outback Steakhouse at 6520 Signature Drive. According to an arrest report, the man gave Smith $10 from his wallet and continued walking to his car.

Then, police say, Smith followed the man, pushed him against his car and took the man's wallet from his back pocket.

Smith is accused of using the victim's debit card to make a $51 purchase a short time later at a Speedway gas station on Crittenden Drive. Police say Smith signed the victim's name on the receipt.

Smith was identified by video surveillance. He is charged with first degree robbery, second degree forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card.
