LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A power outage forced elementary students to change their plans during a visit to the University of Louisville on Monday.

The students from Cochran Elementary went to the Rauch Planetarium on the college's campus expecting to watch a program, but instead took a tour of the campus due to the outage.

UofL spokesperson Mark Hebert said, LG&E workers told him a power line overheated and caught fire near Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

"We have never had a situation where just one power line near the football stadium went out and knocked out most of the campus," said Hebert.

LG&E crews were able to restore power in less than an hour and the students were eventually able to return to the planetarium to see the program.
