Passenger killed, drivers injured in crash involving UPS truck

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – One person was killed and two drivers had to be rescued from their vehicles after a crash involving a UPS truck and an Impala Monday night.

According to Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the driver of the Impala ran a stop sign and wrecked into the UPS truck at 10:55 p.m. in the 4000 block of South 3rd Street.

Crews from the Louisville Fire Department and Louisville Metro EMS were called to rescue the drivers out of the vehicles.

Three people were inside the Impala at the time of the crash. Mitchell said the person sitting in the passenger seat was pronounced dead on the scene and the driver of the Impala was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with what appeared to be life threatening injuries. A third person sitting in the rear of the Impala was not injured.

The driver of the UPS truck was also taken to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
