LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Three men and a female getaway driver were caught stealing scrap metal from an abandoned warehouse, according to police.

An officer responded to the scene at 3001 W. Madison St. in the Russell neighborhood of Louisville around 2:30 p.m. Monday after a witness to the crime called police.

According to an arrest report, the witness said Theresa Warf, 48, drove a truck to drop off three men—James Young, 52; James Bruce, 37; and Curtis Boone, 27—at an abandoned warehouse. She then returned to pick them up when they came out with metal.

Police said none of the suspects had a legitimate reason to be at the location.

The report indicates that when the officer arrived, the truck was pulling away from the building "with a truck load of scrap metal." Police said they attempted to flee the scene and were subsequently stopped for an unknown traffic violation.

The officer who stopped them discovered wire and metal cutting tools in the truck, as well as scrap metal in the bed of the truck. The vehicle was impounded and all four people were arrested and charged with third degree burglary.

Warf faces another charge for possession of burglary tools.
