LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:

1. Warm up turns to wintry mix – After the banner couple of warm days we've enjoyed, a cold front is bringing the possibility of snow and ice to our area over the weekend. The WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team is keeping you up to date.

2. New grocery store – A Crossroads IGA opens today at 14010 Shelbyville Road near I-265 in east Louisville. By design, the 10,000 square-foot building is smaller than a traditional grocery store in order to help customers get in and out fast. Fuel, including diesel, is also available on-site.

3. UofL men's basketball – The Cards face Missouri Kansas City tonight at 7 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. The opposing team is coached by one of Pitino's former assistants. The game will air on ABC.

4. Shawnee revitalization – A $2 million grant to revitalize the Shawnee neighborhood will be put to use today as phase 1 of the project begins on West Market Street. Metro Councilwoman Hamilton will hold a press conference about the project at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Amy Avenue and West Market Street.

5. Last night of Hanukkah – Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will celebrate the last night of Hanukkah by lighting the menorah with members of the Louisville Jewish community.

6. World renowned card stacker – This week Horseshoe Casino is bringing in Bryan Berg to recreate the Louisville skyline out of 40,000 playing cards without bending, folding, taping or gluing. It will be on display until December 29.

7. New LMPD officers – The Louisville Metro Police Department will hold a graduation ceremony today for 15 new officers from The Metro Academy class #26.

8. KYFB conference –The 94th Annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Conference begins today in Louisville at the Galt House.

9. Red Kettle Campaign The Salvation Army annual Red Kettle Campaign is still going strong. Please give to the cause when you see those red kettles at area Kroger stores, mall and other locations.

10. Bridge blasting – Blasting to prepare for the new tunnel in east Louisville is scheduled today at about 11:30 a.m. and again at around 2:15 p.m. Traffic on KY 841 and U.S. 42 will be stopped before and during the blasting events. Blasting is also scheduled to prepare for the East End Crossing in Indiana just east of Utica today around 3 p.m. which will affect traffic on Upper River Road and Salem Road.
