Driver dies following crash on Clark Memorial Bridge

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man who police said lost control of his vehicle, causing him to hit a dump truck on the Clark Memorial, or Second Street Bridge, has died.

According to MetroSafe, the crash happened near the center of the bridge around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said a preliminary investigation of the wreck showed a man driving northbound on the bridge in a blue Pontiac lost control of his car and swerved over into the southbound lanes and hit a dump truck.

Mitchell said the driver of the Pontiac was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The identity of the man has not been released. Police are still investigating what caused him to lose control of his vehicle.
