LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man who died after a crash between a car and a dump truck on the Clark Memorial Bridge Wednesday afternoon has been identified as a Breathitt County man.

The Jefferson County Coroner's office says Everett Prater, 64, of Jackson, Kentucky died in surgery at University of Louisville Hospital about 90 minutes after the crash. He suffered multiple blunt force injuries.

Police said Prater lost control of his vehicle, causing him to slam into the dump truck near the center of the Clark Memorial Bridge, also known as the Second Street Bridge, around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Prater was northbound. The dump truck was headed south.

Police are still investigating why Prater lost control.
