LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - After a rainy evening you can expect to start Friday with rain changing to a mix of sleet, snow and possibly freezing rain over southern Indiana. This wintry mix changeover will spread southward toward the Louisville area and into Kentucky during the morning.
Accumulations of sleet and snow will range between 2 to 4 inches in Louisville with higher totals north of the river, up to 7 inches, and lower totals south. Accumulations of ice are also possible, especially to the southwest of Louisville.
On Friday night we could experience the development of slick spots across the region with wet roads and falling temperatures. Saturday will be the calm between the storms, with some sunshine temperatures are expected in the 20s. But at least nothing more than a few flurries are expected to fall from the sky. With round two of wintry weather on Sunday you can expect the reverse of what happened on Friday. The precipitation may begin as a period of light snow and then transition to freezing rain as warmer temperatures move in from the south. Ice accumulation will be possible making for hazardous conditions, especially south of Louisville.
