LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported partly to mostly snow-covered roads in seven of the eight counties in KYTC District 5 early Friday evening: Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble and Henry County.

Of the eight counties in District 5, road conditions are best in Franklin County, according to KYTC spokeswoman Andrea Clifford, but that isn't saying much. Franklin County road crews reported a light layer of ice.

District 5 had all 157 of its trucks on the roads salting and plowing Friday night, Clifford said, with 68 of those trucks dedicated solely to Jefferson County. KYTC is responsible for clearing only the interstates that run through Jefferson County, so that is where those 68 trucks are concentrating their efforts. Metro Public Works handles other roads in Jefferson County.

Clifford said slow-moving traffic was delaying the efforts of KYTC road crews. She said the agency requests patience from the public as they continue working to clear the roads.

Clifford said state and contract crews would be working throughout the night. Contract crews would continue to be used if necessary depending on road and weather conditions.
