Louisville native wins over $500,000 on World Poker Tour

MONTREAL, CANADA (WAVE) - Louisville native Derrick Rosenbarger won the World Poker Tour Montreal Main Event, and the top prize of $500,824.

Rosenbarger, a graduate of the University of Louisville Speed School, is currently a pilot in the United State Air Force. He is stationed in Clovis, New Mexico.

He wore his UofL shirt and hat during the event and was nicknamed "The Louisville Slugger."

Rosenbarger bested Mukul Pahuja in the heads-up final. According to the World Poker Tour website, worldpokertour.com, the final lasted 65 hands. There were 862 competitors in the field.

It is Rosenbarger's first WPT title.
