Thieves steal Christmas presents at gunpoint during home invasion

Thieves stole hundreds of dollars of Christmas gifts from under the tree after forcing three children and their grandparents into a bedroom.

The suspects entered the home at 4738 Burks Road in Forest Park around 8:35 p.m. Monday. Police said two males entered the home through an unlocked front door. They pulled a handgun on the five occupants, forcing them into the bedroom.

One of the male suspects held the family in the bedroom while the second suspect searched the home for items to steal according to Forest Park police.

No family members were harmed during the home invasion.

Their Christmas gifts were stolen along with electronics. Police put a value of the stolen items at $800.

Police told CBS Atlanta that family members overheard one suspect call a third person outside the home. The caller was telling the other person where to park at the home. The family told police that when they heard a car door shut outside the two suspects inside the home left.

The two suspects who entered the home are described as having a dark complexion and wearing black or dark gray hooded sweatshirts. Their height was described as being between 5-feet 8-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. One of the suspects was wearing a flat brimmed hat under the hooded sweatshirt covering his head.

There was no description given of the third person who pulled up in the vehicle.

The incident is under investigation.
