LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A popular children's clothing consignment shop was taken to the cleaners by an employee, according to police.
Jimise L. Childress, 24, is accused of taking at least $10,000 from the cash register at Once Upon a Child on Taylorsville Road.
Police said Childress would create fraudulent purchases from customers, who sell used clothing and baby items to the store, and remove the amounts from the cash register, keeping the money for her own use.
The crime was discovered when the inventory Childress supposedly obtained from customers could not be located.
According to an arrest report, Childress admitted taking some of the cash. An investigation found that she had stolen at least $10,000 from the register.
Childress is charged with theft by unlawful talking.
