LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Thanks to Jefferson County Public Schools making Tuesday a snow day, school bells were silenced and replaced with the sounds of sleds soaring over hills.

"I love it, it's so fast," said 3rd grader Arti Oldfield.

Oldfield, who has never gone sledding before, went with his friend to Tyler Park.

"It's kind of scary but it's still fun," he said.

Seneca, Iroquois, Cherokee and Tyler Parks turned into playgrounds for several students.

Sledders said with recent ice and snow it made for some perfect trips down and out.

"It is very, very, very, fast and slick for sledding on this hill." Mindi Wetzel said. Wetzel took part in sledding with her daughter and her daughter's friend.
