Kevin Harned is forecasting the coldest night of the season

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An Arctic front is now bearing down on Kentuckiana. The winds will be breezy at times this evening with a flurry possible early on.

Clear skies and lighter winds will allow for a big drop in temperatures tonight. The winds will be blowing from Indiana over the snowpack, so this will likely chill down some spots even more so. We're looking for lows in the single digits likely across Indiana with a few spots in that territory as well across northern Kentucky.  Wind chills will be close to or below zero in the morning.

Highs on Thursday with sunshine will struggle into the 20s. We are still tracking some snow/sleet Friday night, but it does appear most of the area will go to plain rain on Saturday.  This next system does not look like a major one for the area at this time.

FORECAST:
Tonight: Breezy and frigid.
Low: 12 in the city, 0-7 above away from the city

Thursday: Sunny and cold.
High: 28

Friday: Becoming cloudy. A period of light sleet/snow expected by evening and overnight.
Low: 33
