'12 Years a Slave,' 'American Hustle' score big Golden Globe nominations

NEW YORK (NBC News) - The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced its Golden Globe nominations. Seven was the lucky number for "12 Years a Slave" and "American Hustle."

Each film received seven nominations at Thursday morning's Golden Globe nomination ceremony.

"12 Years a Slave" was nominated for Best Drama, Best Director and Best Actor for Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Competing for Best Drama will be "Captain Phillips", which earned a Best Actor nod for Tom Hanks, and "Gravity" which brought a Best Actress nomination for Sandra Bullock.

"American Hustle"s seven nominations include Best Comedy and Best Director, along with Lead Acting
nominations for Christian Bale and Amy Adams.
