Horse gets loose, dog missing after carriage rear-ended during hit-and-run

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A horse had to be chased down and a dog is missing after a horse drawn carriage was struck by a vehicle during a hit-and-run accident Thursday night, according to MetroSafe.

MetroSafe said the accident happened at 9:07 p.m. at the intersection of 6th and Main Streets.

Louisville Metro police officers on the scene said a red car rear-ended the carriage, causing serious damage and allowing the horse to get loose before driving away from the scene of the accident.

Officers were able to find the horse the horse near 9th and Market Streets.

MetroSafe said the horse was not injured. Three people who were in the carriage were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

During the wreck an Australian Shepherd who rides along in the carriage ran off. Police said the dog answers to the name Kuri and was wearing a red bandana and a black jacket at the time of the accident.
