LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:
Sunny with a chance of snow - We are looking at a sunny morning, but as afternoon clouds move in this afternoon, the chance for snow and rain increases. A wintry mix is expected throughout the evening and into tomorrow.
Angels extended – For the second time this holiday season, the Salvation Army Angel Tree deadline has been extended. You have from noon until 9:00 p.m. today to pick up an angel and drop off your donations. Inclement weather and a short holiday shopping season contributed to the decisions to extend. Help a local child have a Merry Christmas at these four Walmart locations: Hurstbourne, Westport Road, Bashford Manor and Middletown.
Summer fun – Though snow is on the ground and in our futures, many are already looking forward to the sun and summer! Get ready by ordering your Forecastle weekend passes. The limited number of tickets goes on-sale today at noon. Visit forecastlefest.com for more details.
Beyonce rocks out Yum! Center – If you weren't one of the lucky fans to see the diva perform live last night, there is good news. The megastar unexpectedly dropped a new album today on ITunes. Plus, see why Beyonce not showing up to a local school was still a learning lesson for her young fans.
Mega millions – Someone's going to win, might as well be you! The Mega Millions jackpot is nearing $400 million! You have better odds at being president or being killed by a vending machine falling on you that winning, but you can dream right?
Friday the 13th – Have you ever wondered why superstition surrounds Friday the 13th? Could the reason simply be because it comes after 12? Check out this list of facts surrounding the notoriously spooky date.
Space heater sales soar – As cold temperatures settle into the region, the sale of space heaters is skyrocketing! Unfortunately, so are fires. Find out how to keep yourself and your home safe from too much heat.
Paoli preps – Tomorrow is the big day for lovers of snow sports. Paoli is preparing to kick of the skiing and snowboarding season as workers are adding even more snow!
Cards get in holiday spirit – The UofL basketball team worked the toy aisle instead of the court Thursday night. 25 lucky kids got to experience the Christmas spirit with Santa's helpers and it was hard to tell who was having the better time.
Frodo featured in art – A pit bull found this summer with duct tape around his muzzle and chained to a tree, has a new ‘leash' on life. Frodo made his recovered debut last night as artist Connie Sandusky showed her work inspired by Frodo.
