LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Child Protective Services was notified after a Louisville man forced his son to take a sleeping pill Thursday night, according to police. The child later was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators said Brian Mann, 35, told his son the sleeping pill "will make you feel happy." Mann allegedly tried to give the boy's sister a pill, as well, but she refused.
The ages of the children were not made available.
Officers said Mann's son complained of shortness of air and feeling sleepy. He was transported to Kosair Children's Hospital.
According to an arrest report, Mann was found extremely intoxicated on an unknown substance on the landing of the basement stairs in the 8200 block of Arbor Meadow Way. Police said Mann could not get up without their help. He refused treatment and transport to a hospital by EMS.
Mann is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
