LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A woman is accused of passing out behind the wheel of her car at a Louisville intersection while her 4-year-old son was in the backseat.

According to an arrest report, witnesses called 911 Saturday afternoon to report a gray vehicle with its engine running at the intersection of Grafton Hall and Valley Station Roads. They told dispatchers the driver was passed out and a small child was in the car.

As officers were en route to the location, a witness advised that another vehicle had arrived on the scene and was pushing the passed out driver's car westbound on Valley Station Road. By the time officers arrived, the woman's boyfriend was in the driver's seat of her car, and the suspect, Angela M. Shields, 36, was in the passenger's seat. Police said the boyfriend told them he had just picked up Shields and her vehicle.

Shields told officers she was leaving her ex-husband's house with her son and had fallen asleep, so she called her boyfriend to come and get her.

A witness identified Shields as the driver of the car.

The arrest report states Shields passed out again in the back of the police car on her way to Metro Corrections.

Shields is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
