Struggle ensues at Kroger during attempted robbery of $825 worth of groceries

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Police responded to a report of a strong arm robbery at a Louisville Kroger on Friday when a man tried to get away with more than $800 worth of groceries, according to an arrest report.

Douglas Colin Ware, 52, is accused of making no attempt to pay for the groceries at the Kroger at 2219 Holiday Manor. Police said a struggle ensued when a store manager confronted Ware. The manager's identification badge was torn off in the process.

The groceries were valued at $825.83. The shirt was valued at $30.

Ware is charged with second-degree robbery.
