Scrapped statue from cemetery lands man behind bars again

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man accused of scraping items stolen from cemeteries is facing more charges involving a missing statue.

According to an arrest report, Nicholas Boston was taken into custody Wednesday after police discovered he sold a bronze statue featuring birds on a branch for scrap at ISA Recycling on October 22.

The statue had been reported missing in November when Casey Clements went to visit his father's grave in Cave Hill Cemetery and noticed it was missing from his father's headstone.

According to police, Boston had items stolen from Calvary Cemetery in his possession earlier in the year which led them to suspect Boston in the Cave Hill thefts.

Boston was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property.

The report states the estimated value of the statue was more than $500.
