LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Nails
were discovered inside the stomach of a severely injured dog who had to be
airlifted into Louisville to undergo surgery to save his front leg.
The setter mix, named Cessna,
was flown into Bowman Field on December 20 and immediately taken to the Blue
Pearl Animal Hospital.

While the visible injury to
his leg was the initial concern, the hospital staff also discovered two nails
in Cessna's stomach. Surgeons were able to remove the nails via scope.
After his surgery, doctors
noticed he was having trouble standing. That's when they found he also suffered
from a broken femur they believe may have been caused by a kick.
Despite his injuries Arrow
Fund volunteers said Cessna is sweet and in good spirits. He is continuing to
recover at Blue Pearl.
