Project set to light up Big Four Pedestrian Bridge

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A nearly $2 million project is set to make the Big Four Pedestrian Bridge a little more colorful.

Waterfront Park officials want to glam the area up with LED lights that can be programmed for a light show.

The Waterfront Development Corporation said they are just $100,000 shy of a $1.8 million goal that would illuminate the bridge in colorful lights.

The goal is to draw more people to the already high traffic downtown destination, including more tourists who would then spend money downtown.

Since the opening of the bridge in February, more than 400,000 people have crossed the span to the unfinished Jeffersonville side.

The money for the project comes entirely from private donors.
