LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:

1. Enjoy New Year's Eve responsibly – Police say tonight is the deadliest on the roads. Make plans to get a cab home if you plan on drinking to ring in 2014.

2. Bundle up It'll be cold as the clock strikes midnight. The WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team is tracking snow as we start the new year.

3. Player dismissed – UofL forward Chane Behanan was released from the men's basketball team yesterday. How will the Cards fare without him?

4. Voting deadline – Today is the last day to register or change your party affiliation to be eligible to vote in Kentucky's 2014 primary. During the U.S. Senate elections, you can only vote for primary candidates in the party you choose.

5. Man shot in chest – A Shively man was shot early this morning. He's being treated at University Hospital. Police believe it may have been the result of a robbery.

6. Reward offered – After what Louisville Metro Animal Services calls one of the worst animal abuse cases they have ever seen, another organization offers a reward for answers. A mutilated dog was found behind a gas station in Valley Station Monday. LMAS is asking for information.

7. Boil water advisory – A boil water advisory is in effect for Sellersburg, IN until January 2 following a water main break.

8. Search for suspects – A branch of the First Harrison Bank in Palmyra, Indiana was robbed Monday morning. Police are search for the person for people responsible.

9. Closing after 150 years – Since 1856 Spalding and Sons has called downtown Bardstown home. Today, it will open for the last time. It's a bittersweet time for a family that invested so much.
