SHIVELY, KY (WAVE) - Shively police uncovered more information about why a suspect may have shot a man on New Year's Eve at an apartment complex.

Officers were called to the building at 3519 Park Row Drive off Crums Lane and Dixie Highway in Shively around 2:45 a.m. on December 31, 2013 and found the victim with a gunshot wound in his abdomen.

On January 3, police announced the arrest of Latray D. Quisenberry, 22, of Louisville, for the shooting.

According to an arrest report, the victim met with Quisenberry to buy pills at a McDonald's on Cane Run Road about two miles from the crime scene. Officers said the victim got into a car with the suspect and they drove to the apartment building.

Once they arrived, the two went to the laundry room where police said Quisenberry pulled a gun on the victim and demanded all of his cash and belongings.

A struggle ensued which ended with the victim being shot in his abdomen as he tried to leave the room, according to detectives.

An arrest report indicates the suspect took $500 cash from the victim and fled.

Officers said the victim sought help at a nearby residence and police were called. He was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery.

Shively police confirm the victim is still being treated as of January 7, a week after the crime. He's expected to recover.

Police said they found a wallet at the crime scene which did not belong to either man, but contained the social security card of the suspect.

Quisenberry is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on charges of attempted murder and robbery.

Shively police do not believe the two men knew each other.
