Warming shelter to open in Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (WAVE) – A fire department is stepping up to help people in need as temperatures start to fall.

Lieutenant Jeremy Goodman with the Elizabethtown Fire Department said a warming shelter will be opened at the Pritchard Community Center.

The shelter will open on Sunday, January 5 at 5 p.m. and will remain open until Tuesday, January 7, depending on need.

The Red Cross is donating shelter supplies including coffee, cots and blankets. Goodman said the shelter is open to anyone in need and it will be staffed by fire department personnel and any volunteers who would like to donate their time.

If you are interested in volunteering or have questions about the shelter you are asked to call Elizabethtown Fire Headquarters at (270) 765-2121 or (270) 765-2122.
