LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:

1. 300+ school and business closings – More than 300 closings have been reported and they continue to come into the newsroom. Many students have an extra day of Christmas vacation! Check the list to see if it impacts you by finding "Closings" under the Weather tab of wave3.com or click the link above.

2. Road conditions – If you have to go to work today, check our On-Time Traffic page for maps noting accidents and construction on Kentuckiana roadways. You can also view live Trimarc cameras along your work commute.

3. How long with the cold snap last? – Expect temperatures to stay well below the freezing mark today and tomorrow. It feels colder than that, though. The WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team is tracking wind chill warnings for Kentuckiana.

4. Be prepared for bitter cold – Officials are urging citizens to make sure their homes and family members are prepared for the dangerously cold weather.

5. Don't forget Fido – The Kentucky Humane Society is urging people to let their pets inside as the temperatures continue to drop. They provided us with a list of other tips to keep your furry friends safe during the big chill. It could save your pet's life!

6. Flight delays and cancellations – The weather is also impacting the Louisville International Airport. If you're expecting to fly or waiting on someone to arrive, check the flight status to see if it's delayed or canceled.

8. Soldier killed – A soldier based in Fort Knox was killed in Afghanistan over the weekend during an enemy attack.

9. Bill Nye debates creationism – Bill Nye "The Science Guy" is paying a visit to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky for a formal debate on the question, "Is creation a viable model of origins?" Tickets for the event go on sale today.

10. Strong is gone – Former Card football coach Charlie Strong will be officially named the head coach for the University of Texas in a press conference this morning. WAVE 3 News will stream it live online; check back just before noon to watch. Strong says he's excited for the future.
