LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here are 10 things Kentuckiana will be talking about today:

1. When will it get warmer? – Temperatures are expected to remain frigid today, but a warm up is in the near future. The WAVE 3 News Storm Tracking Team is keeping you up to date.

2. Conserve energy – LG&E and other utility companies said they are experiencing high energy and gas demand and ask customers to voluntary conserve energy in their homes. Find out how you can help ease the strain.

3. Fatal accident One person was killed and another was taken to an area hospital after a multi vehicle wreck Monday night in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

4. First homicide of 2014 – Unlike other firsts of the new year, this one isn't cause for celebration. A man was shot and killed near Preston Highway Monday night. No suspect information has been released at this time.

5. Emergency crews busy – Metro Louisville saw several house fires and water main breaks from Monday night to Tuesday morning. The cold weather seems to be a factor as investigators believe space heaters may have caused a couple of the fires.

9. Deeper than cosmetic Deteriorated concrete and damaged steel rebar will cause crews to shut down a portion of Spaghetti Junction for the second time in two months to repair a column.

10. Mystery at Exit 34 – What really happened to Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis? That question has yet to be answered, but one journalist is working to put the pieces together. Through radio traffic, the final moments of Officer Ellis' life are told.
