CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Campbellsville business was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning as firefighters from seven departments braved the below zero weather to battle the flames.

Campbellsville Fire and Rescue answered a call at 2:25 a.m. at A1 Auto Sales on South Central Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire throughout the building.

Firefighting operations were hampered by the below zero temperatures and frozen fire hydrants. Water had to be shuttled in by tankers.

The building and several automobiles were destroyed.

South Central Avenue was closed for several hours due to icing conditions from the firefighting operation.

Fire departments from Taylor County, Green County, Adair County, Summersville, Buffalo and Knifley responded to the fire in addition to the Campbellsville department.

Taylor County Fire and Rescue also reported moderate to heavy damage to a home that caught fire just before 9 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Knifely Road. No one was injured.

The causes of both fires are under investigation.
