LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A Louisville woman arrested on an outstanding warrant is now facing drug charges and police say her young son was in the car when the buy was made.

Nora J. McCarthy, 32, was arrested January 5 after officers stopped the car she was a passenger in for a traffic violation. The arrest report states that as McCarthy was being booked into Louisville Metro Corrections, she admitted to having contraband on her.

Metro police said McCarthy pulled a bag out of her pants that contained a substance suspected to be heroin, along with three needles, a spoon and strap. The items are commonly used for injecting heroin.

The arrest report says McCarthy hid the items in her pants when the car was stopped to conceal them from officers. McCarthy's four year old son was in the back seat of the car when it was stopped and the child's father, who was driving the car, admitted they had just purchased the drugs.

In addition to the charges in the outstanding warrant, McCarthy was possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a minor.
