Employee killed in accident at Bill Collins Ford

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An employee of Bill Collins Ford was killed on the job Monday in what a deputy coroner described as an accidental workplace death.

Norman Kiper, 50, was sitting at his desk in the service department of the Bardstown Road dealership around noon Monday when another employee got into a vehicle equipped for a disabled driver and accidentally hit the accelerator, according to Jim Wesley from the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. The vehicle struck Kiper from the back, pinning him momentarily until the car was moved.

Kiper, who lived in Frankfort, was rushed to University of Louisville Hospital and died in the emergency room. He was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m.

Wesley said Kiper died of multiple blunt force injuries.

The Louisville Metro Police Department's homicide division is investigating the incident, but foul play is not suspected.
