LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A former Jewish Hospital employee is accused of financially exploiting a patient in her care during a 12-day period in October 2012.

According to an arrest report, Alisa Darcel Sain, 48, of Louisville convinced a 70-year-old woman diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and multiple other health issues to write her a check for $1,000 knowing the victim did not have the mental capacity to understand what she was doing.

The report states Sain "knowingly took advantage of the victim's mental state to deceive and defraud the victim for [Sain's] own personal benefit and use."

A spokesperson for KentuckyOne Health said Sain was employed as a nursing assistant. Her last day of employment was November 20, 2012.

Sain was arrested Sunday. She is charged with knowingly exploiting an adult.
