LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Six-time Grammy Award-winner Billy Joel will perform at KFC Yum! Center for the first time on Sunday, April 6, it was announced Wednesday during an eagerly anticipated news conference at the Louisville venue.

"We are honored to host Billy Joel in Louisville for the first time in over 10 years," said Dennis Petrullo, General Manager of KFC Yum! Center. "The continued support from our community and the Louisville Arena Authority allows us to bring world-class entertainment, and we look forward to a memorable evening with music icon Billy Joel."

Joel is among the highest-grossing touring artists in the world. He has sold more than 150 million albums globally, and his music has remained among the most popular in the world.

Joel has been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has received numerous industry awards. His music also has served as the inspiration and score for the hit Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Movin' Out."

American Express Card Members can buy tickets before the general public beginning Monday, January 13 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, January 16 at 10 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase by the general public beginning Friday, January 17 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com, the KFC Yum! Center box office and by calling 800-745-3000.

KFC Yum! Center personnel had teased the public since Tuesday morning about Joel's identity. Until Wednesday, they would only identify him as "one of rock and pop music's biggest stars" who was planning a "highly anticipated concert" at the venue. Joel was among the guesses that included other top talent such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John and Bon Jovi.
