PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A man convicted of reckless manslaughter in the death of another man at a Phoenix drive-thru restaurant has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Judge John Ditsworth sentenced Cordell Lamar Jude, 22, Friday morning in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Jude was found guilty for recklessly causing the death of Daniel Adkins after an argument in the parking lot of a Taco Bell near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road in Phoenix on April 3, 2012.

Jude was in the drive-thru lane of the restaurant as Adkins was walking his dog through the parking lot, stepping in front of Jude's car and causing Jude to brake suddenly, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Adkins began yelling at Jude and struck his vehicle with what Jude described as a club or baseball bat, according to the attorney's office.

Jude said he feared for his life and shot Adkins once with a gun he had in his car and called police. No bat or club was found.

A jury found Jude not guilty of second-degree murder.
