GAINESVILLE, FL (RNN) - No. 10 Florida had no issues putting away South Carolina, defeating the Gamecocks 74-58 in their first conference game of the season on Wednesday night.

The Gators (12-2, 1-0 SEC) dominated the entire game, leading by as many as 23 points in the second half. Florida shot 58 percent of its field goals and 71 percent of its free throws but only 26 percent of its 3-pointers. South Carolina (7-7, 0-1) scored half of its 10 3-pointers but fell behind Florida in field goals (44 percent) and free throws (65 percent).

Scottie Wilbekin, who led the Gators with 17 points, suffered a sprained ankle with three minutes left in the game. Trainers carried him off the floor. Casey Prather and Patric Young each added 13 points.

Tyrone Johnson led the Gamecocks with 12 points and six rebounds. Sindarius Thornwell and Brenton Williams both added 10 points.

This was Florida's 24th consecutive home game win, the fourth longest in the nation and tied with the Gators' longest winning streak ever.

The game marked South Carolina's fourth road loss of the season and snapped the Gamecocks' four-game winning streak.
