LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A traffic stop by Metro police detectives led to them finding drugs in an unusual place.

An arrest reports states a car being driven by Tyron D. Gibson, 34, was seen running a stop light around 9:50 p.m. January 8. The detectives said as they moved in behind the car they could smell a strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police stopped Gibson's car as he pulled into his driveway and said as they approached the car they saw a bindle of marijuana in plain view. Detectives said they also saw a number of white pills in the center console. The pills were later identified as Oxycodone. Gibson also told police he had just smoked a marijuana cigarette.

During a search of Gibson, they found a bindle of powder cocaine concealed inside his prosthetic leg.

More than $2,000 in cash was found in the car and police said Gibson's cell phone contained numerous text messages that indicated his involvement in the sale of narcotics.

Gibson was arrested on two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, one count of trafficking in marijuana and three separate traffic violations. He will be arraigned on January 10.
